Okotoks Maternity Photography | In Studio
When you are expecting a baby, there is such a special connection between you and your partner. It's that combined feeling of anticipation of what's to come and embracing the fleeting moments of what has been. For me, I love to capture that special connection through my lens. It is by far, one of my most favourite things to photograph. And, this couple made it so easy with their natural and relaxed connection.
For all of my maternity clients, I have a large studio wardrobe available for you to choose from for your session. I can even have a hair and make up artist come to the studio to help you feel relaxed and more comfortable. I have found over the years that the things people worry about the most prior to their session are what to wear and how to look your best. I have tried to eliminate that worry. Contact me to set up a consult if you would like to learn more.
For now...here are some of the images I created for this couple to remember this time. I hope that one day, their child will look at these pictures and see the love and connection which welcomed them into the world.

This beautiful mama just had her baby a little bit early, so I'm going to get to meet her really soon. She was supposed to be a New Year's baby, but she arrived yesterday. Can't wait to meet her. I thought I would share her maternity session because I loved it oh so much :)
My studio has just been hopping making this November and December two of my busiest months ever. So many extended families, baby bellies and newborn beauties. Did you know that a maternity session and the complete set of digital files is only $500(+gst) when purchased with a newborn session? Did you know that I have an ever expanding wardrobe to help my clients create the maternity images of their dreams? If you are pregnant, the best time to have your photographs done is around the 34 week mark. I'm looking forward to seeing all the new year babies--those that come early and those that come a little bit late ;)
Welcome baby Penny! See you next week!
This Little Light of Mine
I love my clients.
I got a studio so that I could try new things...explore and play. Lots of other photographers kept asking me what my plan was...no plan I'd say. I mean...I had PLANS but that was the plan--no plan. hahahahaha. Just to try and get back to my roots. Back to those days when I used to ask my clients to do things and I'd take risks that maybe wouldn't pay off, but maybe they would. I figured that now that I had years of experience behind me, I'd have a better chance of pulling off some of those risks. How's that for honesty? hahahahahaha. I often don't know what the outcome will be...for me, it is a journey. A process. And, we work through it together. And, in the end, the images are a collaboration.
I am not a poser...I had to say that. I mean, I make teeny adjustments from time to time, but mostly, I give you a task and the 'pose' is a result of that. I felt the need to say that in light of a slew of comments on Instagram about one particular pose from this set. It made me chuckle because...not a pose. A cuddle. That's all ;)
I simply cannot wait to meet this wee little one.
And...if you check out the section of my website called 'For Photographers' you will see that I am teaching a class all about taking risks ;)

This couple's engagement images were one of the first sessions I ever did. True story...it was great to see them FINALLY having a baby ;) I wanted to do an underwater maternity session for them. They agreed because they wanted unique maternity images. Dad said he was tired of all the hands in the shape of a heart on pregnant bellies...he wanted something different than that for them. Hope this is different enough for him ;)
The best week of the fall is upon us...seriously the best week to get images with fall colours. And, the weather is GORGEOUS...can't wait to show you all the images I'm going to capture over the next couple of weeks.
