Grandma Barnes and her Grandkids | Simply Portraits
This is one of my favorite Simply Portrait Sessions ever!!! For Christmas(yes, I took these awhile ago now), we gave my mother a session in the studio with all of her grandkids and a custom album. Lots of times, when your family is altogether, the weather outside isn't always right for a family session. That's why I added a studio to my line up. So that I wouldn't be confined to doing sessions in people's homes and outside. It's always warm and dry in the studio ;) So, here are some of my favorite images from the session. Enjoy!
So, if you are looking for something different than fall leaves for your family this year--think about a studio session!! It's a wonderful, modern option and doesn't have to be super stuffy and boring.

Then and Now
This is from their first or second session(wish I knew...)...way back THEN: And, then, this is from today...right at the end of the session when we decided to go outside for a few: It is such a pleasure to watch them grow...and I will admit to getting a bit choked up when I saw how big they were this year. I see them every year...for the last 5 or 6 years. And, in their house they have a hallway that is the 'Short and Sweet' gallery...there are other canvases scattered around, too...a reminder of just how long it's been. They grow too fast.

PS--their mom is a fabulous local stylist who gives Fashion advice on the CBC Homestretch show, as well as, at Southcentre Mall...check out her blog.

Sometimes a shift can happen and you hardly notice it...it's like one day, you wake up and you are shooting different. There is--always--a journey to the shift and sometimes it is a quiet journey until you can just hear the click happen in your head and your heart.
Other times, the journey is like a loud, thundering train barrelling down the track...pretty much completely out of control...forcing you to examine it's aftermath. Then, when the dust settles, you remember it's been there and you realize why. That is how the last 6 months has felt for me...the dust is settling and I am finding my happy place again.
A peak at some of my favourite recent images...swimming with friends at Whytecliff Park in BC while on holiday. If you want to see more of my vacation, check out our family blog Pughville.com.

Bun In the Oven
Yesterday, I spent a lazy Sunday morning with these two lovebirds who will soon be welcoming a wee one. Mom is the amazing event planner, Terra, and dad is the fantastic wedding photographer, Terence. When they announced to the world that they were having a baby, they changed their Facebook profile pics to images of a 'bun in the oven'...so, we thought it would be cute to play with that theme. These 3 images are a small sampling from a larger project that I did for them. I can't WAIT to share the final results, but for now...
Happy Monday everyone...
