Quarry Lake
Sometimes life just doesn't roll along like you planned...this was one of those sessions. There were nosebleeds and cranky siblings who wanted to swim. A baby that needed to be fed and diapers that had to be changed. Somehow though, in between the bits of chaos, there were beautiful moments. Life is like that. Sometimes it just takes an outsider to see them for you...
Beautiful light, beautiful family...what a glorious fall we are having.

Trio
I spent quite a bit of time just staring at this image. So much so, that I felt compelled to share it with you all...There are a lot of things I love about it. Most of all, I love how the little girl is looking at her brother--that is my favourite part. But, I also love the twinkle in mom's eye(I have seen that twinkle many times in my life as she was one of my best friends in High School)...it's great that she hasn't lost that. And, her little man doesn't look so little in this...you can see the man he is becoming. I love that, too... I'm not gonna lie...it's been a tough year. And, truth be told, I am pretty behind because of it. Shooting...especially shooting these sorts of pictures...is fuelling my fire though and I am plugging along. I appreciate the patience that my clients(and my friends and family) have shown me.
I know one thing for sure....I want to take more pictures like this. Not a fancy picture...but a genuine one. Love those...just plain love.

Right Before My Eyes
Most of my clients, I see multiple times. Some families, it's the same time every year...this is one of those families. Their kids grow up right before my eyes. The nice thing about visiting my regular families is that I'm comfortable enough to say...'hey, let's wait for a bit for this rain to pass because if the sun comes out afterwards, it will be gorgeous'...and, so we waited. And, it was worth it...even though our butts got wet and we were a teeny bit chilled.
And, for anyone who is at all familiar with my work, you'll recognize these two lovely ladies as the 'hammock girls'...An image from their first session with me ended up on a billboard in Time's Square to celebrate my being named 'NAPCP Child Photographer of the Year'...

PS--I know I said something about another family session coming up next...soon, I promise :)
