Mountain Engagement Session

This couple spends all their spare time in the mountains. Like many Albertans, the rugged landscape is a huge part of their relationship. It only made sense to capture them in their element.

Just a schedule notice--June is pretty much full. I have a couple of weekday spots available and that is it. May is pretty packed as well. Sooooooo....booking with flexibility isn't happening until July. If you are hoping to have a session with me this summer, you should act fast.

Winter Engagement Session | Calgary Wedding Photographer

I have shared a few of these on social media already, but haven't yet done so here. We were so incredibly lucky to get a beautiful snow fall with a bit of sun. Especially this year...when the snow here has been minimal. This couple is getting married in July and their wedding will set a record for past brides being present. I will have to get a photograph of me with all of them ;) It will also be my first wedding in a big red barn!! Can't wait ;)

I know I've been kind of quiet here lately, but I've been busy shooting, teaching, and preparing to launch my new studio sessions. Keep an eye out here for some awesome opportunities to be amongst the first to be photographed in my new studio coming soon ;) And, I still have a couple of spots for weddings this fall if you know of anyone who is looking!! Some popular dates are still open.

Family

I have been photographing families professionally for over 7 years. In that time, I have learned one important thing: all you need is love to make up a family. There are truly all kinds of families and they all are full of love, wonder, trust, and chaos. And, whatever unique brand of chaos defines your family is worth celebrating(most of the time-ha).

I rarely show the family images from a wedding. They are, after all, usually not very creative or interesting. I'm not saying they aren't important because I do think they are amongst the most important of the images taken that day. I am making an exception today and showing you this image. Whilst editing this wedding, I was struck with how antiquated the traditional idea of family has become. This is a family where the parents of both brides are divorced and remarried. Everyone got along...whether it was just for the day or if they are always that awesome, I'm not sure. Families, afterall--divorced, married or otherwise--are nothing if not complicated emotionally ;) But, they all celebrated the union of two people who are so perfect for each other with joy and enthusiasm.

In this picture, we have two brides, one sister of the bride, one mother of the bride and one step-parent of the bride. Girl Power. And, the modern family. All you really need is love people.

Big Ball of Love

This wedding was all about the love. Love and laughter. Tears of joy and an overwhelming sense of community. Truly one of the loveliest weddings I have witnessed. I wish these two amazing women a lifetime of happiness. And...ummmm...if you have never been to a wedding at Bonterra...well, um...ya. The food was UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE. I am now dreaming of renewing my vows there, just so I can treat my friends and family to this feast. Incredible venue.
